Woman, 97, says cat's yowling saved her from fire
by Radka Konkolova
People have lived with animals all along. At first, animals had been wild but man found out the way how to tame them and then use the meat and milk in the case of cows, goats and sheep as a food and their leather to clothe himself and his family. He also learned how to use the force of bulls and horses in order to make up his field. Later people tamed other kinds of animals and make of some of them their pets. Mainly dogs and cats have always been the most popular.
People breed pets because they want to be accompanied during their life, they don’t want to be alone, they love animals or they just want to take care of somebody or something. There are so many older people living with dog or cat. But doing this can be also helpful, not only pleasant for them. Let’s consider, people don’t feel so alone and they have to do something in order to keep their pet alive. But on the other hand, pets, and generally animals, are very thankful and they can even save your life.
Animals are usually very clever and intelligent creatures. You can see it in many cases from the past when pet saved its owner’s life. Or some dogs are even specially trained for looking for and finding people who are peppered by avalanche. But also cat and other animals are capable to do such things.
Let’s take the cat of one 97-year-old woman from Independence, Missouri. This woman was sleeping her sound sleep while her house caught fire. Her cat, Boo Boo, came to her room and was trying to wake its owner up by permanent loud yowling. Finally it was successful and it made her owner to wake up. This old lady was very angry about her pet because she didn’t know why it was doing such noise at 4 am. But she took Boo Boo and wanted to put it outside, so she walked through dark house till she reached the kitchen. Then, she immediately smelt the smoke and later saw the fire. So she knew she had to run outside the house. And thanks her pet it is alive, healthy and happy now. And Boo Boo is alright too, thanks the fire fighters from The Independence Fire Department. According to this institution the damage causes at $75,000 to the house and $40,000 to possessions. But old lady and her daughter are very thankful that she and her darling are alive, no matter the value of damages.
So you can see that sometimes it is better to have someone or some pet although you have to take care of them every day, because nobody knows when and where they will be able to save your life…
