Time Warner Cable Bills Tornado Victims
by Daniela Simkova

Imagine how terrifying and dangerous is a tornado demolish. How many people loose their houses, or worse their lives? Many, and this is the most tragic thing that can happen to you. To loose your friend, child or parents. All of us have problems to deal with terrifying things, especially tornadoes.Ann Beams' house has been demolished by tornado. It was bad enough to expect there could be some more unpleasant message. "I just couldn't believe it. It was like, 'What are they thinking?'" said Ann Beam after she received a cable bill which said $2,000. She called the cable company as soon as possible, but the conversation was useless. The Time Warner Cable company said that there is nothing they could do to help her. Ann Beam said: "They said I would have to take the bill and turn it in to my insurance company." But this wasn't the solution to the problem. Insurance company paid just very small amount of money, because the cables were nine years old and thus Ann Beam couldn't cover her bills. Celeste Flynn, a spokeswoman for Time Warner Cable said: "We understand this is an unusual situation. All they will need to do is call and we will take the equipment off their account." Cable company said that many customers are charged for the unreturned equipment because they canceled service by themselves.

by Milota Sidorova

"Any of the nine people in the studio here today could win up to ten thousand pounds. They don't know each other; however, if they want the prize money, they'll have to work as a team. But eight of them will leave with nothing, as round by round we lose the player voted 'The Weakest Link'. Let's meet the team..." That's Anne Robinson's opening line in is a television game show called 'The Weakest', which first appeared in the United Kingdom on BBC Two on 14 August 2000. Since early 90's many TV and radio stations have noted a boom sensation of game shows, reality shows, testing contestants wisdom and intelligence. It seems that from local broadcasts to famous -Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?-, people like to challenge themselves. The Dog Fashion
by Kamila Moravcikova

My neighbor used to have a tiny little dog. And she used to dress up that poor dog in really strange clothes as she thought her little pal looked cute. She wanted to be different and all those dog outfits were just results of her effort to be considered stylish and modern. Dog & she called him Little Peter - never expressed his opinion or feelings, he was just awkwardly jigging and following his owner, apparently trying no to lose the last bites of his dog self-esteem in loud pink dog jacket and moving as fast as it was possible in that uncomfortable suit. Maybe that's why the thing of dressing little dog pet into human clothes always seemed strange to me. I was confident about the fact that dogs were made to be dogs, that they had fur for some good reason and as we & humans & don't have any, we have to protect ourselves by putting on the clothes. But have you ever seen any dog looking into your eyes with begging stare that was clearly saying something like "please, I have to have that shoes, please, can I have them?" Actually, I just realized that dressing the dogs up isn't only the case of lonely older ladies or fashion victims, this trend has also hit the German police. They decided that their dogs need shoes! So the police dogs in Düsseldorf are going to get brand new shoes in police colors (available in three different sizes). But the Germans have good reason for this & they want to protect their dogs from injuring their pads as they sometimes have to walk on broken glass and they got hurt often. Well, this seems to be a good idea. Hopefully, they're not gonna get the whole police uniform anytime soon.

Robots taking over
by Claudia Sonea

You never get bored reading about the latest inventions in technology especially. Since ever the main goal of researchers was to create an artificial form of life- a robot. Well, their quest is getting closer and closer to that point. If until now you could see robots only on TV or on the Internet, now you can meet one in everyday life. On Monday, Dutch inventors presented their latest creation: a 75,000 euro ($111,100) car-fuelling robot. Drivers will no longer feel the nostalgia for braved windswept garage forecourts that filled their tanks due to this Dutch robot, first of its kind. It is created to accomplish tasks like registering the car on arrival at the filling station and matching it to a database of fuel cap designs and fuel types. Just imagine the entire situation: a robotic arm fitted with multiple sensors extends from a regular petrol pump, opens the car's flap, picks up the fuel nozzle and directs it toward the tank opening, just like a living person, perhaps even more efficient. The idea started from a robotic arm milking a cow that determined the developer and petrol station operator Nico van Staveren to create a robot to pump up gas, for all motorists to be excerpted from getting dirty and smelly. His aim is to introduce the "Tankpitstop" robot by the end of the year in as much as possible Dutch gas station. However, it works only for any car whose tank can be opened without a key, and whose contours and dimensions have been recorded to avoid scratching. The drivers are not scared by the robot, but they hope the gas station has a very good insurance. Stay connected and see when your town will get one. Enjoy!

Traffic regulation tightening
by Claudia Sonea

Busted! You can no longer put on lipstick, nor shaving or carrying a pet at the wheel if you are on the driver seat and of course if you live in northern Mexico. No one stops you, but it would lead to hefty fines. It is another step in the plan of authorities that are trying to cut down on traffic accidents. Just to make an image of how the Mexican driving system works lets see how much you would pay for putting on make-up or shaving with an electric razor. According to Mexican media report on Saturday the fines will be up to 346 pesos ($32) in the northern Mexican city of Torreon from this month. Torreon city hall classified as misdemeanors driving while intoxicated, speeding, and talking on a telephone without a headset, throwing trash out of a car window, and driving with another person or an animal on a motorist's lap. For these demeanors the fines are higher and this city opens way to a stiffening traffic law that Mexican drivers will most probably ignore like they do it with stop lights, drive drunk or with children in the front seat, and carry passengers in the back of pick-up trucks. Their behavior however makes from fatal accidents a common thing. If it will help, the Mexican authorities don't know yet, but they expect at least an improvement to be seen, so there will not be anymore situations like that from Pink's video: Stupid Girls. Watch out, open your eyes and don't sleep while driving, lives depend on you.

Frank Oresnik and his old loyal '91 pickup, they have both experienced a lurid time passing the 1 million-mile mark. Frank was accompanied with the cameramen continuously filming the whole journey and a public radio audience that allows listeners to become a part of nonpareil occasion.According to Frank Oresnik this rare happening could not be expressed in words how tremendous it was. As he said "I can't tell you how much fun it was!" He also expressed his honor to being listened by a huge amount of people watching TV or listening to the radio. He was glad that he could reach this thanks to his "old girl" as he calls his trusty pickup track. He bought his "girl" & 1991 Chevrolet Silverado in 1996 with 41,000 miles already on it. It was used especially in businesses where he distributed seafood and steaks throughout the northern Midwest.Due to his endeavor to keep the car going, he had to change the truck's oil for more than 300 times. He managed to pass the million-mile mark on Friday in the southeast, in Wisconsin. His position was exactly on County Highway V southeast of Fond du Lac. This great achievement was just successfully made while he was on his way home. Frank lives in Catawba, situated in the north in Price Country. It is nearby Rhinelander.Beside this eminent event Chevrolet's film crew and advertising company were present. Oresnik said that it had not been relief rather it had been exhilarating. As he told without his "girl's" stoutness over for such a long time he would have never managed it.

Sausage beats poodles!
by Milota Sidorova

Uno & No. 'Uno' In America!A sold out Madison Square Garden, a smell of flap, fever and a perfect show, that is about to overrun excited crowd. Sharp lights on, marching music and all the audience focuses down to the stage. The atmosphere is cutting a man. Shouting, hailing and lousy noise follows the brisk performance, that crowned Uno's star night. Trying to avoid confusing you, one must say Uno is not a music superstar, although he has stared his shiny career yet. Uno is cheery, beautiful 15 inch long beagle, the current winner of 132nd Westminster show & the national dog's exhibition. This year, the show met 169 breeds and varieties with, precisely, 2.667 entries. And what is so special about the winner 2008? Uno could be called his majesty of anarchy. Despite of his strong challengers, advanced poodles, that belong to the most often winning breed, Uno made an impression by his performance, so charming, that the judge J. Donald Jones even called him a package of personality.3 year-old Uno is the first beagle winning since 1939. According general opinion, this is a fresh change comparing to common elegant poodles. The vital family pet of Eddie Dziuk of Columbia, Mo., bays and chew into the microphone, when the crowd of reporters try to interview him, just few minutes after his bright victory. He seems to pay no attention to his fame."He's a people's dog, a merry little hound," handler Aaron Wilkerson said.Uno proved that, every dog has a chance to win such a prestigious exhibition. Before the competition a dog expert David Frei, the announcer for USA Network's coverage of Westminster, made a courageous promise."If he wins best in show, I'll rent him an apartment in New York City because I'll be traveling with him all year, so many people will want to see him," he said. "If he won, it would be the greatest thing for our show." While Uno -  No. Uno can enjoy the America fame, Mr. Frei should start to think about a rent.

Mr Men going French
by Claudia Sonea

Old rivalry between English people and French people is getting once again under the spotlight due to a popular British cartoon and television series "Mr. Men" that just come up with Mr. Rude, an obnoxious character who speaks with a bad French accent.                     Mr. Men is a comedy show aired by Channel Five for four to seven years olds that include such characters as Mr. Messy, Mr. Strong and Mr. Tickle, created by Roger Hargreaves in the early 1970s as a series of books. In 1975 it was for the first time broadcasted on TV and since then it had a continuous success, with female characters added in 1981 and some new updates like Mr. Scatterbrain, Mr. Stubborn, Little Miss Daredevil and Little Miss Calamity. The new character, Mr. Rude, is the only one with a foreign accent and it will appear in the new series which will run on British television starting February 25. Nonetheless, in a promotion for the new series, children can take a peak at the character on a game played on the television show's website www.mrmen.com where he breaks wind just by pulling one of his fingers, while stating: "I'll geeve you rude".                      Reuters tried to find out French embassy on the matter, but they refused to comment and only from unofficial source Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper published an article where an unknown person from inside the embassy confessed that the light-hearted humor of the series will not improve the relations between the two countries. Still, Channel Five's spokesperson said that the character has a French accent with the purpose of having fun and without any intention to offend France or the more than 300,000 French citizens who live and work in Britain. Moreover, Chorion, which makes the show, said it is looking to sell the series to France, among other countries, without mentioning if the French version of Mr. Rude would have a British accent or not.                       Laugh now while you still can't, although no matter if it is without the intention of offending, any nationalist joke tends to become a xenophobic thing and generally it should be avoided. Anyway, take a look at the show and pass judgments later. Enjoy!

Chris Cantell Discusses Odd News: Happy Day for a Kitten
by Jana Passova

A kitten from Weston will be more careful next time. It was squeezed in the undercarriage of stranger's car when firefighters came. A bad weather doesn't help the rescue action too much. Outside was pouring rain. The firefighters were trying to jack up a car and take off a wheel. But the small cat was so stressed that every try to reach her failed. Finally, the kitten escaped. Then another problem came. After surviving a cat, it ran away from danger place. But nobody knew where. The crew spent an hour finding a lost cat. Finally they gave up and came back to the fire station. They had to answer two calls about the lost cat. Surprisingly, five hours later a story continued. Anybody wouldn't think a small cat was the whole time with the crew. Or better say on the fire station. The kitten was hidden in their fire truck's rear wheel. After the first shock they prepared a strategy to get the kitten out. First, they use a meat. It was a large portion of meatloaf. But a cat felt so much in danger that it did not cooperate. They had to find out another plan. The crew tried it with a three-pronged strategy. The first firefighter poked the feline in the backside with a Slim Jim. The second one used a hose to get it into open compartment and the last one pulled it out finally. It was really interesting day for firefighters from Florida. Not as much funny for the kitten. Anyway for both parties happy.

Number one
by Lenka Lehenova

If you are excellent at school, you are number one. If you win some races, you are the first and number one. So if you are the best, you are just "the number one". Everybody wants to be number one. We would be happy if others called us "number one" or "hey, the best" or just "the one". It is really nice image but it is only dream. I don't think that people's envy would allow it but if you really want to be "number one" and you aren't brilliant sportsman or scientist you can just put this number on a place where everybody can see it. Where? You have a lot of possibilities. For example you can draw number one on your house or put it on your close. Yes, I know that everybody can do this and it isn't special!Do you want to be unique? O.k., no problem! Everything what you need is only 14 million dollars. Then you can buy automobile license plate with nothing only with the number "1". Do you think that it is very expensive and nobody would buy it? So you are wrong because somebody just bought it in United Arab Emirates. His name is Saeed Khouri, a member of a wealthy Abu Dhabi family and he bought it for a record price at a charity auction on Saturday. The reason why he bought it is that it is the best number and he wants to be the best in the world. There are no Arabic numerals and no letters, just only "1". Now he can drive by his car and all people will know him because of his "1". There is very popular to write on your license plate what you want for example some name or numbers. It is quite expensive but the record sale 14 million dollars surpassed also the 6.8 million dollars that was paid for an Emirati license plate at an auction with the number 5 on it. If you want to own a car with special number today you can. You just need money. Saeed Khouri is number one now not only because of "1" but also because he helped the people who need it. Proceeds from auction go to rehabilitation center for victims of traffic accidents.

Unwanted hats and shirts
by Claudia Sonea

It has been a while since the American football team, New England Patriots (commonly called the "Pats" by sports writers and fans) has lost the latest Super Bowl disappointing millions of fans. They became in 2007 the fourth team in NFL history to complete a perfect regular season before being defeated by the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII. There is a saying "one man's loss, other man's gain" and it has never been more real than now when all the shirts and caps proclaiming the victory of the New England Patriots have ended up in the hands of poor Nicaraguan children who were more than grateful. For them it was the nicest present ever and like Miriam Diaz, of World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization, said it they are the winners. Luckily for them hundreds of shirts and caps, which had been manufactured in advance to celebrate the Patriots' expected victory over the New York Giants (and other garments are produced in advance so players and fans can put them on to celebrate immediately after the final whistle of the game) were given to the children in the southern city of Diriamba. World Vision has a strong bond with National Football League, or NFL, and every year helps out poor children in Latin America and Africa with the unwanted "winners" shirts of the team that actually loses the Super Bowl. Now you see the bridge, now you don't
by Claudia Sonea

Few things can actually surprise me nowadays, but this surely astonished me: a railway bridge theft. It is not that I don't see the purpose of the theft, but I can't see how you could get away without being noticed or what in the world you could use to steal such a big object. The theft of the century took place in the western Czech border town of Cheb. Police already launched an investigation into the theft of the four-tone railway bridge. Breaking statement of police spokeswoman Martina Hruskova to AFP revealed that they are not quite sure why it was stolen. I can tell them for sure that it was not stolen for sentimental value, not at that size. Judging after the size it would be easy to identify a more material purpose, one that will have a boosting reward- at £100 to £120 per tonne in scrap metal that would give them £400 to £480 which is quite a lot. If they charge the ones responsible for the misdemeanor, they should lock nature too for being an accomplice, after all she did flood the bridge first facilitating the robbery. If you were wondering who first notice the missing, you should probably know that the alarm was raised by the company charged with looking after the bridge, which was on a disused stretch of track near the town. Next on the list of the robbers will be!London Bridge? Until further news, stay connected and giggle a little bit on all the paradoxes this world has. Enjoy!

Chris Cantell Discusses Odd News: Finding Miko
by Claudia Sonea

Animals are born with the instinct of survival, no matter if they are house animals or from wilderness. After a fire broke down in December at a house in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a black and white cat disappeared. Its owner searched it long time after the incident, but unfortunately there was no trace of the cat. However, two weeks ago an animal shelter in Pueblo, Colorado, gave a call to the owner saying that the cat is with them.                 The main character of the story, the missing cat Miko, was probably scared and searching for a warm shelter hopped a tractor-trailer and rode it to Colorado that is some 240 miles away from its owner. Driven by the spirit of survival, Miko fled the house on fire and went looking for a protection. Animals never seize to amaze me, nor the technology.                   Lately there has been a trend in introducing a microchip in the pet's neck in order to have something to be identified if the collar is lost. Thus luckily for Miko who lost her collar, the shelter officials scanned the microchip in her neck and came up with her owner's name. All is well, when it ends well.                    An important thing we must learn from this story, besides the fact that animals have a very developed sense of survival, is that we need technology in so many areas that it has become a necessary evil. Don't hesitate in buying a microchip for your beloved pet, it assures a constant way to locate it. Bravo to Miko and the happy owner.

There is a saying “one man’s loss, other man’s gain” and it has never been more real than now when all the shirts and caps proclaiming the victory of the New England Patriots have ended up in the hands of poor Nicaraguan children who were more than grateful. It doesn’t sound pretty good for them, but they are enjoying even the smallest thing. Somehow the bitter taste of such actions doesn’t encourage me to cheer their action, but it is better than nothing. Wouldn’t you say so?

Number one
by Lenka Lehenova

Sausage beats poodles!
by Milota Sidorova

Uno & No. 'Uno' In America! A sold out Madison Square Garden, a smell of flap, fever and a perfect show, that is about to overrun excited crowd. Donald Jones even called him a package of personality. 3 year-old Uno is the first beagle winning since 1939. According general opinion, this is a fresh change comparing to common elegant poodles. The vital family pet of Eddie Dziuk of Columbia, Mo., bays and chew into the microphone, when the crowd of reporters try to interview him, just few minutes after his bright victory. He seems to pay no attention to his fame. "He's a people's dog, a merry little hound," handler Aaron Wilkerson said. Uno proved that, every dog has a chance to win such a prestigious exhibition. Before the competition a dog expert David Frei, the announcer for USA Network's coverage of Westminster, made a courageous promise. "If he wins best in show, I'll rent him an apartment in New York City because I'll be traveling with him all year, so many people will want to see him," he said.

Enjoy!

Happy Day for a Kitten
by Jana Passova

1991 pickup passed million-mile mark
by Lenka Filipova

Frank Oresnik and his old loyal '91 pickup, they have both experienced a lurid time passing the 1 million-mile mark. Frank was accompanied with the cameramen continuously filming the whole journey and a public radio audience that allows listeners to become a part of nonpareil occasion. According to Frank Oresnik this rare happening could not be expressed in words how tremendous it was. It was used especially in businesses where he distributed seafood and steaks throughout the northern Midwest. Due to his endeavor to keep the car going, he had to change the truck's oil for more than 300 times. He managed to pass the million-mile mark on Friday in the southeast, in Wisconsin. His position was exactly on County Highway V southeast of Fond du Lac. This great achievement was just successfully made while he was on his way home. Frank lives in Catawba, situated in the north in Price Country. It is nearby Rhinelander. Beside this eminent event Chevrolet's film crew and advertising company were present. Oresnik said that it had not been relief rather it had been exhilarating. As he told without his "girl's" stoutness over for such a long time he would have never managed it.

If it will help, the Mexican authorities don’t know yet, but they expect at least an improvement to be seen, so there will not be anymore situations like that from Pink’s video: Stupid Girls. Watch out, open your eyes and don’t sleep while driving, lives depend on you.

Enjoy!

All of us have problems to deal with terrifying things, especially tornadoes. Ann Beams' house has been demolished by tornado.

Even The Sidewalks Shine!
by Milota Sidorova

A risk gains the double! The more difficult question, the larger cash prizes...and the larger loss as well. According the Television and Media statistics in America, the rating swiftly increased while broadcasting those kind of TV shows. Million of people found themselves stuck on TV screen, answering all sorts of contestant's questions. Possibly due to the slogan, - Don't take life too serious! -, an internet site www.jumpingjacksbar.com, created a list, consisting of the dumpiest answer ever responded. You can have a real fun time, while browsing the most unexpected pearls. To rise your taste, you can enjoy few highlights of the list. Presenter: In which European city was the first opera house opened in 1637? Contestant: Sydney As well as, Presenter: Which American actor is married to Nicole Kidman? Contestant: Forrest Gump Or Presenter: How long did the Six-Day War between Egypt and Israel last? Contestant: (after long pause) Fourteen days
