Hunter becoming pray
by Claudia Sonea

Nature's laws are like a boomerang and how Timberlake singes it, what goes around, comes around. Yes, it is true, no deed- good or bad- goes unpunished. So, it comes as no surprise that hunters are often getting fringed with their own weapons. In the past, it was necessary to hunt in order to survive, to feed you family or for the sake of the tribe. However, now it is only an abuse of what nature gives, so it is natural to not get away from its wrath. This is the case of James Harris, a 37 years-old amateur hunter. On Saturday afternoon he went with his friends hunting, unfortunately things did not went that well. They shot a pheasant that landed on the other side of a fence and James offered to retrieve it, so he like a smart hunter placed the gun, without the safety, on the ground, while he tried at the muzzle end to cross the fence. The gun was at a range no further than three feet when one of the hunting dogs following behind him stepped on it and the trigger trip up to 120 birdshots pellets in the left calf. He received medical care at Grinnell Regional Medical Center and later transported by helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, following the accident in Poweshiek County. According to Alan Foster, a spokesman for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources who told the story to the AFP, the injury doesn't endanger Harris' life, but will certainly bug him for a long period of time. He added that it is not something out of ordinary and that it happens frequently. Don't fool around with nature or she will get its back on you.

Che Guevara memorabilia were bought by a bookstore owner
by Corina Ciubotaru

After 40 years from his death, some of Che Guevara's hair was sold at an auction along with other memorabilia, for $119,500. The package contained fingerprints, a lock of hair and death photographs and belonged to a former CIA agent, Cuban-born Gustavo Villoldo. He claims to have cut the piece of hair before burying his body in a hole on an airstrip and denies Fidel Castro's claim that the body was in Cuba. Guevara was Castro's most trusted ally during the revolution in 1959 and was killed by gunshot injuries on October 8th 1967 in Bolivia. Villoldo said he took the fingerprints, lock of hair and photos to prove the mission to kill Che was a success and that he was a murderer, not the revolutionary icon he was turned into by popular stories. Though an unusual yet interesting item, there was only one bidder for the lot, a 61 year old man who runs a bookstore near Houston, and who placed the bid by telephone; some media speculated that even Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's leftist President was interested in owning the package, but he has not placed any bids. The final buyer, Bill Butler, says he plans to display the memorabilia in his bookstore; there is no scientific proof that the hair actually belonged to the revolutionary Argentinian, but the auction house guarantees its authenticity. The Heritage auction house from Dallas took extra security protection after Guevara's family publicly stated they were disappointed someone would try to make profit from his death.

Painting from trash worth $ 1 million
by Nina Gotzmannova

Supermodels are famous for habit going to second hand or thrift stores and buying designer goods for ridiculously low price. This way of spending money is not reserved only for those with too much of free cash and free time. In a second hand anyone can find quality goodies for a good price. But something else is to find something valuable in the street. Often people dispose old furniture if they don't like it anymore, and hope someone else will pick it up and keep it. But those things are never valuable. Until came this year. A painting, that was found in trash in New York, is a valuable lost treasure from the author Rufino Tamajo and it's worthy almost a whole million dollars. The founder, Elizabeth Gibson, has found the artwork probably four years ago and kept is as a nice wall decoration. But she saw the painting in a website and realized that the beautiful huge painting is actually a lost property and can cost lot of money. Gibson decided to return the painting to its previous owners, which had been missing the painting for 20 years. She received a $15,000 reward, but this sum of money is nothing in comparison with the actual price of the artwork. According to Sotheby's experts the painting can make up to $ 1 million in the auction next month. But thanks to this uncommon story the price may fly to an unexpected high and the new owner will not only have a wall decoration, but an interesting story behind it.

Heil Sudoku
by Claudia Sonea

Trying to kill your boredom? Do you want something entertaining to do during your flight or bus trip? Well don't worry, now you have Sudoku, a logic-based number placement puzzle. It's easy to play; you just have to fill a 9×9 grid so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 boxes contains numbers from 1 to 9 only once. Now take one and give it a try. For its existence we thank Howard Garns, an American architect, while for its name we thank Nikoli, Japanese who published it in 1986 under this name that means single number. Beyond this petty commercial, the truth is that many people enjoy it and it's a worldwide hit since 2005. Furthermore, there are even competitions and the prizes are not negligible. The first US championship was on Saturday in Philadelphia and gathered more than 800 people from far distances like California and British Columbia. Many US newspapers use it since The Times of London began popularizing it in 2004. According to a Philadelphia Inquirer survey more than 56 percent of Americans have played this game. The winner, Thomas Snyder, is 27 years-old and a postdoctoral student of bioengineering at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, and a Harvard University PhD. in chemistry. He succeeded to complete the advanced section in seven minutes and eight seconds; that is 3 minutes before his nearest rival. He returned home with $10000 in his pocket and with the desire to defend his world title in India next year. Although he played this game as a hobby, he now looks at it like at something meaningful. However, not everyone came for winning the prize; some came for the sake of the game like Alicia Leshner, 46, an intensive care nurse from Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania or Jennifer Maienza, 49, a kindergarten teacher from Laurel Springs, New Jersey. All the 857 contest sat for 30 minutes in silence, while other 300 people watched them filling three rounds of Sudoku. Jay Devine, a spokesman of the event, said they did not expect so many people to attend and this game reunites people of all ages. Try it, who knows you might even like it.

Tale of one Hungarian toy.
by Barbie Kunkelova

Piles of Cinderellas and Harry Potters, available in seventeen color combinations and made out of fourteen different materials. Need a porcelain Harry for an ancient-oriented offspring? Or rather looking for a cute sponge Harry head for your car antenna? Or Cinderella-shaped pillow? Oh, how about a simple cute little statue of Harry and Santa Claus holding hands (Santa is also wearing a Gryffindor scarf, of course!)? One could easily define the American dream with similar sentences. What's, actually, the world's best-selling toy? Unsurprisingly, it's not American. Surprisingly, it was created by a professor of architecture. His name was Erno Rubik and he taught sculpture classes at one Hungarian school. One day in year 1974 he had a hard day at school and for one long moment his mind became all crowded with different thoughts. So overcrowded, it made him wish he could connect the thoughts somehow and get his brain cleaned up. Connect the thoughts together, just like in a puzzle. Except it wouldn't be a flat puzzle. It would have a shape. He remembered a project he did with his class the other day & model of a 2x2 cube, which had been created in 1970 by Harry Nicholas. But his busy mind needed more elements, four wouldn't work. After he came up with his 3x3 mechanical puzzle in a cube, his mind and thoughts and efforts were awarded greatly. Mr. Rubik's "Magic Cube" won the Toy of the Year and German Game of the Year awards and today it is the best-selling toy worldwide, no matter how many new characters Disney and Mattel come up with.
